“What do you want for your birthday?”, the age old question that you get asked when your birthday is approaching. Just for a moment all the exciting possibilities run through your mind, it also brings back childhood memories of that endless list of birthday dreams that we all had as kids. Presents all wrapped up with the perfect gifts, cards that maybe had a couple dollars in them that you would spend at the local Woolworths the next time you went to town, some balloons and the perfect cake decorated with buttercream frosting and half-burnt candles and the slumber party that ended the following morning.
But here in adulthood, the thing that I want most is to be with the people I love and care about. I have more than enough stuff, (well maybe not enough yarn and knitting goodies 😉 ), because I am blessed beyond my imagination I am so thankful that the Good Lord has allowed me to share another birthday with my loved ones. Each day is truly a gift from above.
Each day given to me is also more time for knitting and reading, yipeeee!!
Joining Ginny and everyone at yarn along.
My sister-in-law and her husband are in the process of adopting his niece’s newborn daughter and I thought that I would crochet them a blanket. The yarn is from my stash, it is Lion Brand Homespun, in the colorway: Ocean. I enjoy making blankets with Homespun, it is incredibly soft and the blankets hold up to the test of time and many trips to the washing machine. I want to have this done soon and I pray that their journey with this baby is successful and has a happy ending.
I am halfway through my turquoise socks for my husband’s co-worker, I hope to have these done by tomorrow night, that way he can give them to her on Friday. These will be my first ever “paid for socks”! It is so funny to me that with all the socks I have knit and given away, these ones are the most intimidating. I guess it comes down to the fact that somebody is paying me and I want them to be completely satisfied, the whole money thing is so different than the gifting thing. Anyways, I truly hope that she enjoys them, as everyone says, “There is nothing like a handmade sock, nothing”!
I am still in the same spot I was last week with Jane Eyre. I don’t know if this counts, but I purchased one of those adult coloring books. I bought the Secret Garden, An Inky Treasure Hunt and Coloring Book. I was watching the Herbstblatt Regina Podcast episode #4 and Regina mentioned it and another one she had bought. I found mine at Joanns and I still need to purchase some pens and pencils to use for coloring. It sounded like fun and looks like a good challenge. If you have not watched the Herbstblatt Regina Podcast, you should definitely check her out, she is a beautiful person, inside and out.
Until next time,
